Can you transfer a trailer hitch from car to car?

I’m trying to get a bike rack for my VW 2000 new beetle and my mom has a rack on her car that fits a 2" trailer hitch. I don’t have a hitch on my beetle, and i was wondering if i could take the hitch from her 2000 nissan exterra and put it on my beetle

The New Beetle Hidden Hitch takes a Class I hitch, a 1-1/4" hitch, no more than 200 pounds hitch weight. You can use a 1-1/4 to 2 In Converter Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter to use the bicycle rack.

No it will not fit the hitch for the beetle is very specific to that car, Nissan Xterra had a full frame under car, Bettle is what they consider a unibody, Look up curt mfg or Drawtite for the proper fitment

…Not necessarily….Different cars have different Frame configurations, and Hitches are custom made for a certain car..not "universal fit"..
